REPORT ON 2022 Menstrual hygiene OUTREACH CONDUCTED BY CORE HEALTH ADVOCATES INTERNATIONAL 23-28 MAY 2022

To mark the World menstrual hygiene day 2022, core health advocates international embarked on awareness across 6 states in Nigeria. The research done by our NGO in 2020 revealed that over 50% of our young ones still battle with menstrual hygiene and it’s disorders while 90% get stained in the first few months of menstrual life. Towards the realization of a global menstrual hygiene awareness, core health advocates organized a six-day menstrual hygiene awareness Outreach across 6 states in Nigeria. A total of 6 centers were mapped out (1 in each state). 2 doctors, 2 nurses, and a public health consultant were deployed to each centre to aid the campaign. At the end of the campaign and awareness, free sanitary pads were distributed to the ladies in support of the fight against poor menstrual hygiene. Their ages ranged from 9 years to 27 years. SUMMARY Menstrual hygiene and it’s disorders remains a major burden to the adolescence. More than 50% of adolescents still practice unhealthy menstrual practices ranging from using of clothes, toilet paper among others. Awareness like this was targeted at building the confidence of the female adolescents in taking proper care of themselves during and after their menstrual cycle.

– Pneumonia
– Urinary Tract Infections
– Gonorrhoea
– Syphilis
– Trachoma
– Tuberculosis

Remember: Antibiotics do not treat viral infections, like colds and flu.
